Essential tips for a memorable proposal

Things to Keep in Mind for Proposals

Planning a proposal can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be.  These simple steps will help you stay focused on what matters most — making the moment meaningul, stress-free, and unforgettable.

Location, location, location!  Narrow it down and do it in NYC, I'm a bit biased.

Consider the moment, whether it's a romantic sunset or during a special occasion, to create the perfect atmosphere.

If she values family, having loved ones around after the moment, will make it more memorable and heartfelt.

You are doing all this planning, you will both want pictures that capture it all beautifully.  CALL ME!

Make sure you know her ring-size beforehand and keep the ring hidden until the perfect moment.

Think of what you to say beforehand, expressing your love and intentions to make it more personal.

Give her a reason to do her nails without being suspicious.  Moreover, give her reason to look fabulous.  In case that's not possible have the friends and family bring her an outfit change. Btw — don't forget that you too should look equally good.

Consider adding a great song playing in the background.  A Violin, a sax, a mariachi band would all fit the bill.

WHERE to PROPOSE in NY?

New York is full of unforgettable backdrops - from sunlit waterfront to tucked-away gardens to cinematic rooftops.  Here are locations I love for proposals that feel natural, romantic, and visually timeless.  These aren't just "popular spots"- they're places that actually work for beautiful and meaningful moments.

YOU SHOULD KNOW

Incorporate Something Personal

  • A song that means something to you (playlist or hire that violinist to play it)
  • A favorite drink to toast

Essential tips for a
memorable Engagement Session

Things to Keep in  Mind
for Engagement Session

Your engagement photos shouldn't feel like a performance.  They should feel like the two of you — relaxed, connected, and present together.  Think of this time as time to slow down and savor where you are right now.  I'll guide the movement, but the feeling is yours.
Here's how we can make that happen.

Pick a place that feels aligned with who you are together.

This could be a neighborhood you always wander through, somewhere that holds a memory, or a setting that reflects your style — urban, natural industrial, classic, or a mix.

If you're not sure, I'll help you narrow it down (and I'll share my curated list of favorite NYC spots for inspiration).

If you'd like to include your dog (or your little one), absolutely — they're part of your story.

Just bring a friend or handler who can step in when we want to focus on the two of you, so everyone stays relaxed.

Wear what makes you feel grounded and beautiful.

Your East River Photographer Style Guide will walk you through outfit ideas, color palettes, and textures — no need to overthink.

We'll keep things natural — walking, leaning in, holding hands, sitting together. The goal is to feel like yourselves, not perform.

We'll slow down in moments — holding each other, breathing together, being still.  These quiet, unposed pauses are often the most meaningful images.

The most magnetic images happen when you're tuned in to each other -> The rest becomes background.

The vibe

A Shared Ritual

The kinds of moment that already feels like you:
  • Slow coffee at your favoite cafe
  • Browsing a bookstore together
  • Your usual Saturday morning walk
These familiar rythms help you relax and feel grounded.

A Small Indulgence

Something celebratory — but effortless:
  • Gelato by the river
  • Champagne on a rooftop
  • A late-afternoon cocktail at a hotel bar
It doesn't need to be fancy — just intentional

A Setting wih Atmosphere

We'll lean into tone and texture, not just the scenergy:
  • The steps of the NYPL
  • Cobblestone streets
  • A quiet garden path
  • A chic hotel elevator + lobby bar moment

A Moment of Stillness

We'll pause somewhere beautiful and just breathe.  Lean into each other. Close the space between you.  These quiet seconds often become the imagery that feels most intimate.
